Colours

These are what I have been spending my precious time making, well not precious time, just spare time while I wait for shifts that will never come. I think this is the range I will be sticking with unless people opt for custom ones.

BURBS FESTIVAL

On the 17th April there will be a burbs festival at Blacktown. My friends and I will have a stall there from 12pm onwards. So if you would like to come by and see us and perhaps buy some things, that would be awesome. There will also be lots of food and music and its all free to get in and all ages. Hopefully it is a lovely autumn day.

Mexican!

If I could eat mexican every night then i would, especially vegan mexican. My recipe is probably not completely authentic but it is certainly delicious.

I'm going to give you my recipe for vegan nachos.

INGREDIENTS
* one pack of corn chips (i like to use the organic low salt ones)
* half a ripe avocado
* one fresh crunchy tomato
* a bit of fresh red capsicum chopped into about 1cm pieces
* three or four mushrooms chopped up
* one cup of TVP (veggie mince, you just add boiling water to it and let it sit for a couple of minutes and then drain)
* one small tin of 4 beans mix (rinse them)
* half an onion
* one clove of garlic minced in that utensil that squashes them, or you can just chop it up really small if you don't have one, or just use good ol minced garlic from the jar.
* some tomato paste (its really up to you how much you like to use, i just mix it with salsa so it covers all the beans and mince)
* fresh corn kernals
* hot tomato salsa
* fresh chili or flakes
* grated soy cheese

METHOD
So basically you prepare some corn chips on a plate, chop up avocado, tomato, capsicum, mushrooms, onion, grate the cheese.
boil the kettle and add boiling water to TVP in a bowl, let to sit for a couple of minutes then drain.
fry up the onion until transparent, add the minced garlic, mushrooms, and 4 beans mix (after rinsing them of course)
add as much salsa and tomato paste as you like and add the TVP, mix in chili, coriander and any other herbs or spices you like, let it all simmer for about 5 or so minutes and scoop it onto your corn chips.
Add a handful of avocado, tomato, capsicum and cheese and put on top of mince, add a bit more salsa and dig in.

remember to keep some chips spare to eat up all the soggy ones with.

this will prob make more than one nights worth so you can just make it into a dip or just have nachos everyday for about 4 days. and you ahve probably noticed that i didnt melt the cheese in the microwave and that it because i don't have one and everything tastes better fresh.

cheers!

Week off

So I have had this entire week off work, I've been in ballina and at home and have barely had time to eat and sleep and still have not managed to get much work done. yikes!
Although I did manage to make a couple of birthday presents,(because I'm so poor at the mo) a fairy pic, a boat pic, and a bearded sock monster.
I have also made felt charts for any custom orders I may come across.

ZINES

Apart from the lack of sleep and lack of food the zines fair was a small success. It was pretty fun and there were a lot of interesting talented people that we met. My moustaches and whales seemed fairly popular and Diana's teapots and material origami brooches sold well too.
We went in there tired and not really know what to expect (especially me, because i didn't have a zine), but we had a really good day. thank you to everyone who bought our creations and took our business cards.
Ive also got some lovely pics of the fantastic customers who posed with my moustaches.

lazy girl

well I have had two days off work to try and get things done but alas normal duties must be done. washing, cleaning, gym, eating and over 2 days I have managed to make two mustaches and only one whale brooch. I must get cracking!
My workstation is so cluttered, that i feel like it would take hours to make it tidy enough for me to work on, so i put it off and actually do nothing except think about things to make. oh dear I'm so lazy today and I only have 3 more days until the zines fair!

I'll need lightning hands

But apart from that my next project is to make an easter apron for work. I bought blue spotted material and pretty yellow trims for the straps. Its not really eastery but we dont really have any nice stuff to make and i really just want an apron that i like wearing to work..

I also have to try and figure out how to make business cards. I've doodled an idea now i just have to try and make it happen.

Online trading

Well, i attempted setting up an etsy store, but i cant change the prices from US dollars. so i am going to set up a madeit.com store as well, so if anyone in Australia wants to buy my moustaches and other little stuffed things they don't have to pay more than they should. I will post the madeit store details shortly as I'm not very fast at these matters.

have a look if you feel like it.

cheers

trying to find a suitable routine

So I have just started working back at Lincraft after working at the Art Gallery on NSW for the last 3 1/2 months and as i do I've switched from painting to handmade crafts again. Time to move the paints and boards away and pull out the sewing machine and threads. (seeing as my apartment isn't big enough to have both out at the same time) any ideas for how i can make more storage space?

I have just spent the morning trying on brooches that i make. I'll pop some photos up right now
