hiya CAFFY !

So it would seem that moustaches are fairly popular, when I started my hobby business making things out of felt I never thought it would actually take off, but since having my moustaches in a magazine and article here and there I now have a huge order of 140 moustaches for a wedding. very exciting times, also very busy times seeing as I'm working flat out for the terracotta warriors exhibition boy oh boy.

Not much time to do anything, although i have made time to grocery shop and re read the sookie stackhouse series again. I do just love them, and I do love lying on the lounge grating chocolate with my sharp teeth while reading and having our lovely kittens fall asleep on my belly, it sure is a nice way to spend time during this shitty summer. I have also had time to spend with my beloved boyfriend. though not nearly enough. it never is so ive made speech bubbles that say 'Hey i love you' and stuck them coming out of my mouth on all our photos together so that when im not around he still knows it.
Our housemate will be moving out this weekend and we are both hyped to start spring cleaning and re arranging things around the house it will be so lovely. i have so many plans and so many things can come out of storage and be put out on display.

I have become addicted to these most fantastic vegan chunky beef pies that are at a small cafe near glenfield station called cafe affinity. they are the most delicious pies I have ever had and even my boyfriend who is a hardcore carnivore couldn't believe it wasn't meat. yummo dadda. must spread the word and I found out that there is a vegan cake shop in leumeah

http://puredawning.com.au/

i bought a magazine today and it had the lady from the tv series nighty night in it. oh how i miss watching that. it brought back the best possible memories. the line "HIYA CAFFY' is the best

ooooooh yeah! things are swell

wedding fun

So we went to the best wedding a few weeks ago, it was at the art house and friends of ours got married at the rocks and then it was drinking and dancing and they had a great vegan option for me which was exciting. Earlier in the year my friend (bride to be) had asked me to make her wedding toppers out of felt and I did and boy was I was extremely pleased to see how they had turned out and they matched the cake perfectly.

Qmagazine

So Qmagazine (couriermail) were doing a few little fun things for movember and they asked if they could use a pic of my moustaches and I said sure. So I came home today to find they had send me a few copies which was exciting. so I've scanned it in. Very exciting times.

stones stones glorious stones for a boring day

Its a lazy day today, Usually on my lazy days I have popcorn for lunch because I can't be bothered making any real food and popcorn means I get to eat for ages, just shoving it in my mouth while I read or watch tv because I hardly ever do those things any more. but no popcorn. so i've cleaned my workspace, i've walked down the street to pick up our broken laptop, i've had a hot bath and drank numerous stones ginger beer, i've tried on my dress and shoes and make up for the wedding we are going to tomorrow, i've drawn up sketches of moustaches for a lady who is buying 130 from me for her wedding guests and for fun wedding photos, i've run downstairs now that my foot is better and went to the door, saw a shadowy figure at the door and heard the doorbell, realised that I was wearing a white shirt and no bra, wondered whether it was important enough to open, opened it anyway. no one there, no one walking away, no delivery van out the front. just the wind.
got creeped out, ran back upstairs, on the computer, talked to a few people, forget about the door. I've had lunch that consisted of a handful of mixed nuts, 5 green olives, and 2 passionfruits. took a few photos of things to put on my madeit store, heard the post man, went down for the post, yay fimo! and decided to make some moustaches and dinosaurs.

Now I have to wait for them to air dry and then paint away!

halloween

Halloween turned out to be a great night. Everyone seemed to put a lot of effort into their costumes which is always a plus in my books. I carved a few little pumpkins and put tea lights in them and was pretty pleased with how they turned out.

my plant has given birth

would you look at that. My plant that thrives on neglect has given birth to 2 new shoots. Which i think is pretty fun considering I only have to water it once a month and it lives in a dark room and gets hardly any love from me. but all that will change now. I have heaps of love for them.

And this is where my foot hurts when I move it. dumb ol tendonitis. And yes that's a thong tan. And yes I know they look like mens feet. Actually both my brothers and my dad have the exact same feet just add a little hair and less care.

planet time

Planet health time that is.

I just joined up and I got a free shirt that is 10 times too big for me and smells like promite. but that's cool. It open on the 10th November which is good because I have tendonitis in my foot and couldn't go yet anyway, but it does mean I'm not going to have neat muscles in my calves in time for the weddings I'm going to next month.
So this weekend (even though its a wednesday and thursday) I've been making my halloween costume and i'm almost finished, and i've been shopping and had my hair trimmed.
bye hair i was trying to grow you but I failed.
but it looks better now anyway, i'll grow it next time.

SUMMER !

It's almost here!

And boy I cant wait.

Today I spent in the sun and shade of my backyard. We had beanbags and fresh fruit and scrabble and the sun, I did end up a little red in the afternoon but it was well worth it. Then we made fresh iced tea and had coffee and fruit toast with jam and cinnamon, while listening for the sounds of thunder rumbling in the distance and feeling the charged ions around us (the storm never came past us and it is sunny again)

So yesterday I made my outfit for Halloween, its going to be pretty fun. I'm really looking forward to wearing it.

I haven't had much time to make anything lately apart from what people are ordering, I cant wait to have a little bit more spare time to make new and exciting things. But on a more exciting note I have been drawing up a few tattoo ideas and I cant wait for our guy to have his hand healed so he can start on them (alcohol + angry girlfriend + punched wall = broken hand) So hopefully that will be mid November and I want them to be finished by Christmas so fingers crossed.

world beard day

so for those of you who didnt know. it was world beard day on saturday . what an awesome day. and for all of you who have beards, good on you. Men are supposed to be hairy and those of you who cant grow facial hair suck.
Ninemsn told me that men with facial hair get more chicks and i believe them.
I thought i would celebrate world beard day also so i made myself a ginger (all the men in my family have gingerbeards) felt beard.

soooo whats new? huh.? been a while, what a lazy bitch!
ive been working my arse off, getting up at 5:30 am every morning, leaving the house at 6:30 walking to the station, getting off at central , walking to the gallery, then working all day, reading sookie stackhouse novels and walking in my breaks and train time and getting home at 6:30, dinner, tv, make something, sleep, ive been making our house a home, kind of with little art works here and there, ive been making moustaches and iphone covers and people have been buying them and ive been posting them off to places like tasmania and melbourne and california. ive been making planet and space brooches for my friend whos going away soon, ive beentrying to make a neil diamond picture for tonys mum but i never get time to finish anything, ive been listening to boy and bear, and cloud control and i dont want to listen to anything else, except maybe duck sauce and professor green (only 1 or 2 of his ones though)
I've been waiting patiently for my hair to grow but it hasnt been growing fast enough, ive been waiting for my hairdresser to call me back so she can thin out my mushroom head, ive been trying to get those nice dents in my thighs when you tense them up and my teeth and i are having a better relationship than we ever have. i've been booking in new tattoos and getting seriously addicted to coffee, we've been in brisbane for big weddings and catching up with old friends, we've been in melbourne for family fun. and for most of all ive been waiting for spring and here it is. time to come out again yaaaaaaay!
goodbye winter. goodbye scarves and freezing toes, and snot and people sick on the train and that freezing windy rainy corner on oxford and liverpool street where you cant use your umbrella because its so windy it will turn inside out! so long sucker! 6 months until i see you again

pic time and then toning exercise time, and then tv time and snuggle with tony time then lovely lovely sleep time

New York 2

I'm back. 6 out of the 7 planes we caught were bumpy as hell but luckily the last one back to Australia was smooth and I haven't come back a nervous wreck. I have however come back 2 kilos heavier and this week before I go back to work will fix that. detox!

New York was a wonderful experience, we spent a lot of money and ate a lot of food. took a lot of photos, walked so much.

We were also stopped by a man who blogs tattoos he spots around New York, we were lucky enough to be spotted and he took a couple of photos and put them up on his blog

http://tattoosday.blogspot.com/2010/06/bigfoot-and-bowl-of-fruit.html

Tennesee was an even better experience. it was beautiful and clean and we went out on a lake and ate southern food and went to our friends wedding. shot some guns, made friends, we had so much fun.

now were back and sleeping and getting things organised, dishing out presents and I heart NY stuff
i cant wait to get back into a routine

New York

I have been extremely busy and lazy at the same time.

These past weeks I have quit my job, moved house, stopped going to the gym, started eating lots of food, not feeling good about that, created a few things, sold things I've made, sold things I didn't need.
I've spent a fair amount of money on things that I think I will need in America. Like Aesop travel toiletries. New jeans, travel shoes, (they were a gift from Tony) books for the plane ride, ear plugs for hostel snorers, eye mask for sleeping in a bright city, a hat because I cant decide whether or not to cut my own hair. Its too billowy at this moment in time so the hat will flatter and hide it, but I know if i cut it wrong I will need the hat to hide it as well. I am torn between my instincts to just chop it off and the fact that I know that everytime I have cut it myself I hate it and keep cutting until I don't ever want to go out in public again. I even have a hairdressers appointment for Saturday I just don't know if I can wait that long.

So.... New York, what do you have in store for me?

I feel like I am only telling people that I am excited because that's what they expect I should be. In fact I'm so nervous about being out of my comfort zone that I really don't want to get on that plane, be stuck on that plane for 14 hours, have no space of my own for 14 hours. Have to poo on that plane. Have to eat plane food, be stuck on that plane where I will have no control over anything.
I don't like it one bit.
Then I will get to enjoy New York for 2 weeks until the next plane ride, then I will enjoy North Carolina for 9 days, until the next plane ride back to New York and then try to enjoy New York for 3 more days until I have to get on another big long plane ride home.
I wish i knew it was going to be such a big deal for me and I would have spent some time trying to learn ways to deal with it, but now I have 2 days to go and I have to get on a plane and hopefully not make a scene and embarrass myself.

New York I hope that I can get past these fears and actually enjoy your company. And I will try my hardest not to let them get the better of me. Because I would really like to have fun. I would really like to be inspired and see lots of fun things and eat some good food and drink some good coffee.
I'm going to take my camera and my notebook and I'm going to keep track.

Please be kind to me

BISMUTH

The other night I took a glimpse at the huge periodic table blutacked to my bedroom wall quickly before heading to trivia. My eyes landed on the element Bi. Bismuth. I took a shining (haha shining, get it it's a metal) to it because I had never actually heard of that one before and i liked how it sounded when i pronounced it later that night, when i was tapped on the shoulder because i was talking while they were asking the science question. what is the element Bi? i couldnt believe i. it was meant to be. it was my element. now what to do with it? i still didnt know what it was used for or anything about it.

Here it is straight from wikipedia, my new favourite element, and so pretty it is.

This trivalent poor metal chemically resembles arsenic and antimony. Bismuth is heavy and brittle; it has a silvery white color with a pink tinge owing to the surface oxide. Bismuth is the most naturally diamagnetic of all metals, and only mercury has a lower thermal conductivity. It is generally considered to be the last naturally occurring stable, non-radioactive element on the periodic table, although it is actually slightly radioactive, with an extremely long half-life. Bismuth compounds are used in cosmetics, medicines, and in medical procedures.

we didnt win trivia. we never do, but i was proud i knew at least one answer.
